When to Replace Your Water Heater

Is it time to replace your water heater? Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with some signs to look for when choosing whether it’s time to buy a new water heating system

Age

If your water heater receives routine maintenance, you can expect it to function around a decade, depending on the number of people living in your home. When your water heater reaches 10 years, it’s usually time to seriously think about replacement, especially before a leak happens.

Rusty Water

If the water from your water heater (hot side pipes) is coming out rusty, it could be a signal that your water heater is rusting on the inside. This could produce a leak, not to mention polluted water. Contact an expert plumber to have them check if your water heater system is getting ready to breakdown.

Strange Noises

Booming or knocking sounds coming from your water heater can be an indicator that sediment has built up on the bottom of the tank. This means your water heater will be less efficient and will require more gas or electricity to heat your water, resulting in higher water heating bills. It also means that the excess time spent heating your water could produce more damage on your tank, which could cause cracks or leaks.

Water

If you discover water around your water heater tank, you could have a leak. Call an expert plumber to come out and inspect your system and they can give you a quote on a new water heater if necessary.
