What Nate-Certification Is and Why It Matters Published on November 08, 2016 Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning in Edmonton always talks about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds comforting, what does it actually mean? NATE is an abbreviation for North American Technician Excellence and, as stated on their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all technicians in the industry are required to be certified through NATE. The certification is voluntary and technicians can provide heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration services without being certified by NATE. It’s important to Service Experts that our technicians are NATE-certified to ensure we are sending the most qualified and skilled technicians into your home. To make sure experts meet these standards, the NATE-certification exams validate real-world working knowledge of HVACR systems for technicians. The exams are knowledge-based exams that assess the technician’s knowledge of these standards. Since Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification (not refrigeration), there are only particular areas pertinent to our technicians. NATE test candidates may receive installation and/or service certification in one or more of the skill areas listed below: Air ConditioningAir DistributionGas HeatingOil HeatingHeat PumpsHydronics Gas (service only)Hydronics Oil (service only)Light Commercial Refrigeration (service only)Commercial Refrigeration (service only)Ground Source Heat Pump Loop InstallerSenior HVAC Efficiency Analyst You can depend on the technicians at Service Experts to be highly skilled and professional to do the job right the first time.
