Service Experts of Raleigh Helps a Man Go Above and Beyond for His Neighbor

This past May, Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning of Raleigh accepted a call from a gentleman named Jimmy from the Raleigh community who told us about a very exciting project he was in the midst of for his neighbor Kyla.

Kyla Tracy is a sweet nine year-old girl who was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, also known as brittle bone disease. She is dependent on a wheelchair to get around and her house was not wheelchair accessible, mainly due to the size of the equipment. When Jimmy learned about the issue, he thought about remodeling the Tracy family’s residence to make it fully wheel-chair friendly. But because of the age of the home, remodeling was going to be a larger project than he initially planned. Undefeated, Jimmy chose to try transforming the Tracy family’s carport into a wheelchair compatible apartment, which would come complete with Kyla’s own playroom, bedroom, bathroom, and dining area.

Ready to get started, Jimmy began contacting local home service groups, including building supply companies, plumbers, and electricians and all of them said they would be honored to help and provide services and supplies. He asked Service Experts of Raleigh for the heating and AC part of Kyla’s new living area. Our Service Experts team members went over to learn more about the remodel and were in awe of how intelligent and friendly Kyla was and they knew they had to be involved.

Kyla’s father, Jared Tracy, said he expected to pay for the $12,000 HVAC systems for Kyla’s new apartment, but with the assistance of Lennox and RE Michel, Service Experts of Raleigh was able to hand Kyla’s family a bill that said:

“We are honored to present you with a full heating and AC system free of charge as long as we can all have hugs.”

The employees at Service Experts of Raleigh were over the moon to help provide such an incredible girl with a much-deserved place for her to live that accommodates her wheelchair and allows her to move around safely and efficiently. But there’s still more to do. The Tracy family is working to purchase a wheel-chair accessible van to better transport Kyla and her wheelchair.
