Congratulate Adil Karamally as the Recent Recipient of the Joe Groh Foundation Published on July 09, 2016 The Joseph Groh Foundation is a wonderful organization that offers financial support to people in the construction industry who endured life-altering injuries. Every year the organization honors various recipients with a grant and earlier in the year the Joseph Groh Foundation was happy to announce Adil Karamally as a recipient. Adil, born in Pakistan, received his MBA from the University of Chicago and 13 years ago purchased ProStar Mechanical Services of Anaheim, CA and obtained his HVAC and general contracting license. Ten years later, Adil experienced a severe stroke at only 48 years old. He lost the function of his left arm and the experience left his left leg greatly impaired, leaving Adil with foot drop. Due to the fact he had to use a heavy brace to walk, his muscles began to atrophy and his doctors were concerned that he would most likely become permanently in a wheelchair. Because the stroke left him unable to work, Adil’s wife, Laila, was their sole source of income, causing financial stress on the couple with a young child in elementary and three more children in college. They became optimistic when Adil was a good candidate for the WalkAid System, a piece of equipment that incorporates functional electrical stimulation to help someone in Adil’s situation walk again. However, Adil and Laila soon learned that they would not be able to afford the device in addition to the intensive rehab that Adil would need so he could learn how to use it. Fortunately, a professional at WalkAid told Adil and Laila about the Joseph Groh Foundation and, because of the generous grant, Adil was able to get the WalkAid System and has already experienced wonderful success. His muscle is starting to regenerate and not atrophy, bringing hope back to Adil and Laila. Service Experts LLC is an official sponsor of the Foundation and long-term friend of Joe’s.
